I'm Marinet, a Product Designer with a decade of creative work behind me and a growing obsession with the intersection of design, psychology, and the systems that hold it all together.
Currently based in Kingston, Ontario, I work at GoodX Healthcare where I get to do the thing I love most: untangle genuinely complex problems and turn them into experiences that just make sense.

My design story started long before "UX" was in my job title. I came to product design the long way, through graphic design, branding, motion, and web — running my own studio in South Africa, working in agencies, and building visual identities for everything from tech companies to game farms. That breadth taught me to listen as much as I design.
In 2022 I made the move first to Toronto, then to Kingston, Ontario.
New market, new context, same curiosity.
At GoodX I've worn more hats than most: lead designer, researcher, workshop facilitator, UX evangelist, and occasional one-person design system team. The design work is always the core, but the work around the work — building a design culture, making the case for UX, helping teams understand why it matters — is equally part of the job.
My background in graphic design and branding means I care as deeply about visual craft as interaction logic. I don't separate the two. A well-designed system is beautiful and functional, or it isn't working hard enough.
Design systems are where I'm most in my element. There's something deeply satisfying about building the right component once and watching a whole team move faster because of it.
I'm looking for a team that takes design seriously — where UX has a seat at the table and isn't just called in to make things pretty at the end. I'm equally comfortable in a senior role or stepping into a mid-level position in an industry I haven't worked in yet. What matters more than the title is the environment: thoughtful people, interesting problems, and room to do the work properly.
Industries I'm particularly drawn to: SaaS, enterprise software, healthcare tech, startups, and anything that sits at the intersection of complex systems and real human needs.
